You can visit the Outdoor Kids section for project ideas and information. In addition, a sample story from the current issue of Wildlife in North Carolina magazine is posted each month. You can also purchase a wide variety of educational materials and products through the N.C. WILD Store catalog. Click here to view the catalog.
Do you have any posters of snakes or fish or other wildlife species?
We offer posters of freshwater and marine fish, reptiles (turtles, snakes and lizards), amphibians, butterflies and other wildlife species. For more information, see the N.C. WILD Store catalog.
We concentrate our educational efforts on training teachers and adult youth leaders through WILD and CATCH educator workshops. By training adults, who in turn work with youth in a classroom or group setting, we are able to reach more people with our programs. The Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education offers a wide variety of programs to groups of all ages.
Who can attend a WILD or CATCH workshop?
Any adult can attend a WILD or CATCH workshop. To search for upcoming workshops, see Workshops and Programs.
How do I set up a WILD or CATCH workshop in my school or with my youth leaders?
WILD and CATCH workshops can be set up with a K-12 school, college, university, community college or with a group of youth leaders in organizations such as scouting. The first step is to contact the Education Specialist in your region and discuss your interest. To have a workshop, you must be willing to host the workshop and be responsible for getting a minimum of 20 participants to attend.
Is there a charge for workshops?
There are no fees for these workshops. There are fees for Becoming an Outdoors-Woman and WILD Outdoor Skills Experiences.
Can I start a WILD Education Site?
WILD Education Sites must be on publicly accessible property and be sponsored and operated by a school, group, company or organization that has completed an intense 30-hour workshop. Potential WILD Education Sites are selected through an annual application process. For more information, contact the Education Specialist in your region.
