The Triangle
Chapter of the Safari Club International and the NC Wildlife
Resources Commission are proud to sponsor the SENSORY SAFARI EXHIBIT. This mobile, kid-friendly exhibit encourages conservation of our native
wildlife, promotes hunter education and enables sportsmen to see and
touch some of the game and nongame species that are found in North
Carolina. The SENSORY SAFARI encourages visitors to learn about their
local environments
by listening to the sounds of birds, viewing deer and bear mounts and
handling pelts of some common mammals. This learning facility is housed
in a top-of-the-line, 36-foot, tandem-axle trailer. N.C. Wildlife Enforcement
Officers and Hunter Education Specialists transport, set up and monitor
the exhibit. It is available for display at a number of conservation
and educational events. The SENSORY SAFARI also promotes hunter education
at events such as the Dixie Deer Classic and the N.C. State Fair.
Other
potential uses for the SENSORY SAFARI include hunter education events,
natural resource conferences, large hunting shows, school functions
and other large exhibitions.
Requirements
In
order to set up the SENSORY SAFARI trailer at an exhibit, there are
some minimum space and electrical requirements. The height of the trailer
is just
under 12 feet, while the width is just under 10 feet. The length of the truck-trailer
combination is approximately 55 feet. In order to be more useful, the trailer
has been wired to accommodate either 110- or 220-volt circuits at a 20-amp
draw. When the SENSORY SAFARI trailer is set up at an exhibit, it requires
a space that is approximately 20 feet wide and 60 feet long.
