Dove Season Opens Monday

RALEIGH, N.C. (Aug. 28) – The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commissions is reminding hunters that dove season opens on Monday, Sept. 1, this year.

Labor Day weekend is traditionally the opening of dove season in North Carolina and includes both Saturday and Monday – giving most hunters two days off from work to hunt. However, under the federal frameworks for hunting migratory birds the season cannot open before Sept. 1, so the season will begin on the Monday of Labor Day weekend this year.
